How to Save a TikTok Draft to a Camera Roll? Step-By-Step
Interested in adding a TikTok draft to your camera roll? We are here to assist you in finding a solution to this issue.
TikTok creators might not always want to publish a video right after recording it, and knowing how to save a draft to the camera roll is important if they want to share the video later. TikTok drafts can be useful for keeping videos safe until they are ready for editing as well as for making it simpler to share them on other social media or messaging services.
How to Save a Tiktok Draft to the Camera Roll?
To save a TikTok draft to the camera roll, you can set the video’s “Who can watch this video” setting to “Only me” to make it a private video. Then, activate the toggle for “Save to device” in “More options” so the video will be saved to the camera roll.
The good news is that the steps below work for both Android and iOS devices, regardless of which you’re using.
- Step 1: After launching the TikTok app on your phone, press the “Profile” icon on the bottom menu of the app’s “Home” page.
- Step 2: The screen will then show your TikTok profile page. From there, tap the “Drafts” folder in the “Posts” section.
- Step 3: All your TikTok drafts are then listed in the “Drafts” folder. After saving the video to your camera roll, swipe up to reveal it. Press on it once.
- Step 4: The creator page will then display the video you previously selected. If you want to edit the video further, tap the “Effects” or “Filters” buttons on the right-side panel to add them. If you’re good with how your current TikTok video looks, tap the “Next” button to post it.
- Step 5: On the “Post” page, press “Those who can watch this video.”
- Step 6: A menu will then appear, listing out 3 options for the audience of the video you’re about to post: “Only me,” “Friends,” and “Everyone.”
Since you simply want to save the video to your camera roll, press the circle beside “Only me.” Then, tap the “X” button to exit from the “Who can watch this video” menu.
Another way to access the video’s privacy settings before you post it is to tap the “Privacy Settings” button on the right-side panel of the creator page. After that, a similar menu listing the three options that can watch your video will appear.
And, just like earlier, tap the circle beside the “Only me” option to select it. After which, just press the “Next” button to proceed with creating your TikTok post.
- Step 7: On the “Post” page, swipe your finger upward until the “More options” section appears. Tap to access it.
- Step 8: Under the “More options” page, tap the toggle beside the “Save to device” option to activate it. Any video you’ve posted on TikTok will now be automatically saved to your phone’s camera roll. After which, press the “X” button to exit from the “More options” page.
- Step 9: Now that you’re back on the “Post” page, press the “Post” button to upload the video to TikTok. Wait for the video to be published by checking its progress in the upper left of the “Home” page.
- Step 10: A notification informing you that the private video was successfully uploaded will show up once the download procedure is complete. Go back to TikTok now, and then tap the icon for the photo gallery app on your phone.
- Step 11: Swipe through the images to discover the newly downloaded video on your camera roll. Tap it once you’ve located it to start it playing. The TikTok watermark can then be seen on the left side of the video.
You can return to your profile page on TikTok and find the video you saved to your phone’s camera roll there if you’re unsure where it is located. From there, press the lock icon on the “Posts” section. Then, you’ll see all the private videos you’ve uploaded to the app that are saved in this folder.
However, as was already mentioned, any video saved to the camera roll, whether it be for public or private consumption, will have TikTok’s watermark on it.
Here is a video to help you understand the method better.
When to Save TikTok Drafts to the Camera Roll?
Be cautious when uninstalling TikTok if a video is only being saved on the app as a draft and not to the camera roll. Draft videos are kept locally, but if TikTok is uninstalled or if the account has been transferred to another device, they will be deleted and lost.
Therefore, it’s critical to follow the above instructions to save the video to the camera roll before uninstalling or switching accounts if users want to ensure that their saved TikTok drafts don’t vanish.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a way to save a draft without first uploading it privately. It’s possible that this will be added later because TikTok is constantly getting new features.
The good news is that TikTok does allow users to save drafts, albeit in a complicated way, and there’s always the option to delete the private video after it has been downloaded to the camera roll.
